ADAM Hinshelwood will refuse to rely on other results to mathematically ensure York City’s safety.

The York boss is keen for City to do their part in remaining in the Vanarama National League, with the Minstermen two points clear of Boreham Wood in the relegation zone.

Boreham Wood and Ebbsfleet United, positioned in 19th place, face one another on the final day, meaning that it would take a large Boreham Wood victory for City to be relegated on Saturday.

Hinshelwood’s side will take on play-off bound and Isuzu FA Trophy finalists Solihull Moors on the final day, at an earlier kick-off time of 12.15pm, with the York manager addressing supporters for the final matchday of the season.

“It’s just the realism of where we are. It’s not a position I have been in too many times as a manager,” Hinshelwood admitted.

“It’s not a position that I want to be in moving forward, but it is the reality, it’s realism and we’ve got to stick to what we believe in.

“I just want the lads to really go, embrace and show what they can do.

“If they play with the confidence that they have shown in recent weeks, then it will be a good match.

“It’s the same as always really, whether it has been Bromley, wherever we’ve gone they have travelled in numbers.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling, to go around the ground at the end and have so many here.

“It’ll be the same on Saturday. We’ve got a big following and as a club, as coaching staff and as players, being a York player has that pressure of a big following, but you have got to thrive on it.

“I want us to go out and really enjoy the last game. There will be no better feeling than to finish positively and then everyone can go into the summer with some hope, some optimism and that’s got to be the message of what we want to generate this Saturday.”

The supporters won’t be the only ones in the stands on Saturday, with Hinshelwood confirming that his Football Association charge was a two-match ban, with the City boss set to be absent from the touchline at the weekend.

Hinshelwood confirmed to The Press: “I think it’s two matches. One was a red card, and one was an accumulation of yellows, so I think it’s two according to the FA. I will be in the stands on Saturday.”
