YORK Valkyrie will be without prop Kelsey Gentles when they welcome fierce rivals Leeds Rhinos next weekend.
The England international has been handed a one-match ban for a Grade C Dangerous Contact charge during Saturday’s 28-8 victory at Barrow Raiders.
Gentles, who has resumed her playing career with the Valkyrie this season following the birth of her daughter with former York Knights centre Jacob Ogden, has been penalised for late contact on a passer at Craven Park.
She is the only player from the Betfred Women’s Super League to have been charged by the RFL’s Match Review Panel this week, with Lacey Owen and Vanessa Temple seeing no further action after a second-half coming-together that saw both sent to the sin-bin.
Lindsay Anfield’s side will be seeking to maintain their unbeaten start to the new Women’s Super League season when they take on the Rhinos for the first time since October’s Grand Final triumph.
However Lois Forsell’s side have so far lived up to their billing as the title favourites, thrashing Huddersfield Giants 66-4 and Warrington Wolves 68-0 in the competition’s opening two rounds.
