Remembrance Day Parade!

It's that time of year where we all come together as a community, and remember the soldiers and individuals who fought for us back in World War 1.

Remembrance Day takes place on November 11th of every year, where it is a memorial day which states since the end of the First World War in 1919 to honour armed forces members who died at the line of duty.

This day is held and the communities consolidate together, where we all respect the courage and honour of those who sadly lost their lives on the front line while serving for our country. People within these communities will make their own bake sales to raise money and awareness, while others may sell poppies as they are a symbol of this special day. As well as this, there is a traditional period of silence across the whole country where as soon as the clocks strike 11am, people will fall silent for the moment as a sign of respecting the day and the soldiers.

Moreover, there is the traditional parades that take place across the country, the main one being a national ceremony that is held in London at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, starting with the period of silence at 11am and concluding with the end of the Nations Thankyou procession at 1:30pm. During this, members of the royal family will lay wreaths as well as others.

There, however, are also planned parades in parts of North East Lincolnshire. In Grimsby, there will be a service of remembrance at Grimsby minster at 9:30am, Sunday 12th November.  This service will be continued with a parade to the Nuns corner where the Cenotaph will have a short service and a 2 minute silence. At the Grimsby docks, a remembrance service is going to be held at the Royal Navy Patrol Veterans memorial on Friday November 10th. Members of the public are invited to join in with the memorial with ABP Humber’s regional director Simon Bird. Simon will be joined by colleagues, veterans and other guests as the service commences at 11am. The public are advised to turn up at least by 10:45 if they wish to participate!

Remembrance Day is a special day to come together and commemorate the people, loved ones and past relatives who died on the frontline as they served their country until the very end.
